Early original vintage example, with parallel legs and arms, in very good condition.

This armchair is one of several models originally designed by the celebrated architect Alvar Aalto during the early 1930 for furnishing a tuberculosis sanitarium at Paimio, Finland. Built as a free cantilever, a principle previously applied only to metal furniture, this armchair developed the use of curved plywood with the plywood seat and back suspended between two U-shaped loops.
