Alvar Aalto Beehive Pendant Light in Black, model A332, for Valaistutstyo, 1950s

One of Alvar Aalto’s most iconic lighting designs, the Beehive pendant light was devised in 1953 for use in Finland’s University of Jyväskylä.

Constructed from six overlapping rings of black painted aluminium and polished brass, this is an early example of model A332, and is much rarer than the model A331 with five rings. Stamped by maker and with model number.
