Rare example of an early LCM (lounge chair metal) designed by Charles & Ray Eames in the mid-1940s and produced by Herman Miller in the early 1950s.

The chair is constructed from walnut plywood curved backrest and dished seat connected by an innovative chromed steel support, the four legs on ‘Domes of Silence’ with original rubber caps. The underside of the seat bears an early label for Herman Miller.

68cm high, 56cm wide, 61cm deep

There appears to have been a modification, made some years ago, with the addition of a metal bracket around the central connection of the bar along the bottom of the seat, intended to provide extra reinforcement to a known weak-point in the design.
Some small losses to underside of the seat edge.
Pitting to the chromed steel, as expected due to the age of the chair.
Original rubber feet showing signs of age and loss of flexibility.
Rear shock mounts have been reglued to seat back.
