Teak and rattan cane ‘Bambi’ armchair, designed 1954
made by Gustav Bahus Eftf. A.S., Norway
with original Unika Vaev wool cushion
72cm high, 66cm wide, 66cm deep
Seat height 46cm
This Norwegian sculptural lounge chair, known as the ‘Bambi’, features a minimalist teak frame with original cane to the seat and back rest. It is a rarer item than the dining chair version of the design, and is in very good vintage condition with normal wear from age and use which is visible in the pictures. Some chairs were made with cord or leather seats, but it is the cane version that is most sought-after and this example has the additional benefit of a stunning red and black cushion made by Unika Vaev which echoes the design of the cane below.
There is evidence of some old repairs to the cane, but overall the condition is excellent for its age and the chair is solid and useable.
